Warnings and Notices

  • The property owner has been advised of the risks associated with the water shutoff device, including that water will be shutoff to the location during installation, use of plumbing at the location should be avoided until the installation is complete, and any equipment dependent on water and positioned downstream from the valve on which the device is being installed will be unavailable during installation and should be turned off. This could include dishwashers, washing machines, humidifiers, etc.
  • The water shutoff device is intended for domestic water supply systems only. Do not install on piping systems used for fire protection, systems with flammable contents or those used for commercial or industrial purposes. Doing so may result in explosion, damage to equipment, or compliance issues with local and state building code.
  • The room where the device is to be installed is not a corrosive or hazardous environment, i.e. not a storage room for chlorine, chemicals. flammables, or other such materials.
  • Be aware that the shutoff device may present a pinch and/or entanglement hazard. Keep hands, hair and loose articles of clothing away from the device while it is operating. Maintain a safe distance from the device while it is operating to eliminate the risk of injury. Keep small children away from this device including using reasonable efforts to prevent small children from accessing the device.
  • To avoid the risk of electrocution, do not install and operate the water shutoff device outdoors. The power supply is for indoor use only. Only use the power supply included with the water shutoff device. Do not attempt to repair or use a damaged or seemingly defective power supply. Do not immerse the power supply in water or subject it to physical abuse. Periodically inspect the power supply for damage to the cable and connections.
  • Be aware that assembly and fitment of the adapter kit may present laceration and/or pinch hazards and caution should be used during installation or removal of the device. The use of hand protection is recommended.
  • Installation of the water shutoff device on piping systems (including pipes, piping joints, fittings, junctions, etc.) that show signs of corrosion or degradation may result in damage to the piping system causing it to leak and preventing the ability of the device to shutoff water as intended.
  • The water shutoff device is not to be installed on PVC or CPVC piping systems or valves.
  • Installation of the water shutoff device on valves that show signs of corrosion or degradation may result in the damage to the valve or further result in the device not functioning as intended.
  • If the probe detects water, or if other Meshify leak sensors detect water, the device must still be operated either locally by the LED button or by using the buttons in Protect. The ultimate responsibility for ensuring that a shutoff has been activated, in response to a leak alert or otherwise, rests solely with the end user.
  • The use of 3rd party extension cords to power the water shutoff device is not allowed by many local and state building codes and the responsibility to determine such allowability rests solely with the installer and end user.
  • The valve does not isolate critical equipment not appropriate for a water shutoff device or where a lack of constant water supply could create a safety hazard, such as boiler feed piping, coolant piping, etc.
  • Washing machines, dishwashers, humidifiers, ice-makers, water heaters or other equipment that operates on prescribed cycles will be interrupted and may be permanently damaged if the water shutoff device closes and interrupts water flow through the shutoff valve during operation.
  • Pressure switches can fail and pumps can lose suction and overheat if the water shutoff device closes and interrupts water flow through the shutoff valve. It is not recommended to operate the device on a valve containing any such water supply sensitive equipment downstream. The responsibility for determining whether any water supply sensitive equipment is positioned downstream from the valve and the ultimate decision of whether to operate the device on such a valve rests solely with the installer.
  • Some plumbing systems may need to be vented after installation (or operation) of the water shutoff device. Consult a licensed plumber to determine whether this is required.
  • The water shutoff device and its electronic accessories should not be disposed of with other household waste. To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from uncontrolled waste disposal, please separate these items from other types of waste and recycle them responsibly to promote the sustainable reuse of material resources.
